Dr Nduom mobbed at Hohoe
Mon, Dec 1st 2008
The flag bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, was given a massive reception by party faithful, sympathizers and residents of Hohoe during a recent campaign tour in the Volta region.

The campaign, which took place at the Hohoe lorry park, formed part of the CPP’s final mop up in the region, and was aimed at garnering more votes for the party in the region. In fact, the station witnessed a huge turnout of both indigenes and party members who had come to listen to the message of Edwumawura. Every inch of space at the station was occupied, compelling many others to struggle to catch a glimpse of the presidential candidate.

Fascinatingly enough was the enthusiasm with which some of the estactic members of the crowd surged forward to either touch or shake hands with the CPP flag bearer. This took his security detail extra efforts to pave way for him to deliver his speech.

Addressing the jubilant crowd, Dr Nduom contended that, this year’s election is not about who is physically strong and can churn out more insults, but indicated that it is about which of the presidential candidates has the best message to improve the lot of Ghanaians.

He therefore cautioned them against voting for both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), arguing that they have had their share of national governance. He said the time has come for Ghanaians to return the CPP to power to enable the party improve the economy to the benefit of Ghanaians.

The CPP flag bearer also paid a courtesy call on the chief of the town, Torgbe Gabusu VI, to seek for his support in his quest to become Ghana ’s sixth president. He further appealed to the chief and his subjects to help his parliamentary candidate for Hohoe East constituency, Mr Paul Robert Addo, to go to parliament.

From Hohoe, the campaign team went to Kpando where the story was not different from, as many of the residents in the town lined up along the streets to wave at the CPP flag bearer, who had alighted from his car.

Before his address, Dr Nduom introduced the CPP parliamentary candidate for Hohoe East constituency, Mr Nelson Bereku.

He again seized the opportunity to dismiss the claim that his party will align itself with either the NDC or the NPP in the wake of a run off the upcoming elections. He was emphatic that, the CPP is this time supporting itself to wrest political power.

Earlier, the presidential campaign team had stopped at Poase Cement and Jasikan in the Akan and Buem constituencies respectively of the Volta region to canvass for votes. At Poase Cement, Dr Nduom went to the market place to have a look at conditions there during which he was warmly received by the sellers.

After introducing the CPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr Rashid Alao, Dr Nduom made it clear that his party is a national party which will ensure that the country’s national cake is fairly distributed.

At Jasikan, the aspiring CPP parliamentary candidate for Buem constituency, Mr Kwabena Osei, disclosed to the party faithful that he has a vision to improve lives in the area. He promised them that when he is voted into power he will ensure that a centre of excellence is built to help train the youth.
