Do not be deceived by their lies

Electorate in the Central Region have been urged by the Convention People’s Party (CPP) not to be hoodwinked by the empty promises of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of building fishing harbours along the coastal parts of the region.

Speaking to the fisher folk in Narkwa in the Mfantseman East constituency, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, CPP presidential candidate, said in the NPP’s desperation for votes, they have come promising to build harbours at places such as Moree, Winneba, Elmina, etc. He asked them not to be consumed by such lies, questioning why the party would wait till the time of the elections.

According to him, it was sad that the government has not taken pragmatic steps to address the concerns of fishermen in the country. He observed that their plights [the fishermen] become worst when political meanings are read into them. This he explained has given some foreign fishermen the leeway to make huge profits from within the country’s sea to the detriment of Ghanaians.

Dr Nduom indicated that it is as result of this and many other problems that the masses are facing that there will be the need for the CPP to be returned to power. He disclosed that a CPP-led administration by him will implement policies that will improve the living conditions of fishermen.

He said the greatest problem facing the country is the lack of adequate jobs, adding that his government will ensure that factories which were left to rot under the 1st Republic are put on sound footing to offer employment to the youth. He said when the CPP wins power both the NDC and the NPP will have no cause to worry.

Lawyer Alex Amoah, the CPP parliamentary candidate for the constituency was introduced by Dr Nduom to the people. He urged them to intensify their efforts to canvass for more votes to enable the candidature of Lawyer Amoah to go to parliament.

From Narkwa, the presidential campaign team visited Breman Essiam where the CPP presidential hopeful entreated the durbar of party faithful to vote massively for the CPP parliamentary candidate for Ajumako Enyan Essiam constituency, Mr Rexford Mensah and the party.

He told the party members that the CPP is a national political party that is not tribally inclined. He said when voted to power, his administration will ensure that Ghana’s wealth is fairly and equitable distributed.

For his part, Mr Rexford Mensah encouraged them to propagate the party’s good message to others to enable them to also vote for the CPP on December 7. He stressed that the CPP’s manifesto is one that when implemented would better the lots of Ghanaians rather than the monies and petty items being distributed in the various communities within the constituency.

At Adiebra, the CPP flag bearer deplored the state of the town’s roads, schools and hospital in the wake of the fact that they had voted on four consecutive times. He appealed to them to vote for his party for better schools, first class roads and jobs that will pay them living wages and salaries.

He also seized the opportunity to introduce the CPP candidate for Assin South, Mr Aduamoah and enjoined the people to support him.

The campaign team went to Wawase where Dr Nduom cautioned them against casting their votes for either the NDC or the NPP. He maintained that these two parties have done their best for the country, and therefore the need for the CPP to be voted to power to enable his party also implement its policies to get Ghanaians out of poverty. He intimated that his government will always put the interest of the Ghanaian first.

Later the CPP presidential candidate introduced the party’s parliamentary candidate for Hemeng-Lower Denkyira constituency, Osei Hyeaman, and urged the constituents to vote for him.

The presidential candidate of the CPP rounded up the day’s campaign with interactions with his constituents in Elmina and Atabardze. At these two places, he was met by enthusiastic party supporters who waved and did the yeresasamu sign.

At Elmina, Dr Nduom called on them to vote for the CPP for change they will feel in their pockets whilst at Atabardze, he entreated them to support his successor for the Komenda-Eguafo-Edina-Abirem constituency, Mr J.B. Eshun.
